Materials That Age Well: Our Selection

We choose materials for how they perform over time, not to follow a trend. These are some of our favourites.

Materials That Age Well: Our Selection

Ageing is not the same as deteriorating

The best materials are not necessarily those that remain untouched, but those that gain character through use. A lived-in home naturally shows signs of time, and choosing surfaces that age gracefully helps avoid the sense of wear that often appears with cheaper finishes.

Natural stone

Marble, travertine and limestone offer a quality that is difficult to imitate. Each piece is unique and, when properly cared for, can last for generations.

Wood

Solid wood adds warmth and can be sanded and restored. It is one of the few materials that can actually improve with age.

Designing for living also means designing to last.

Brass and warm metals

Rather than chrome, we favour brass and bronze finishes that develop a natural patina over time. Small details that bring character to taps, handles and lighting.
